I spent the day walking in the rain at Ingleton Falls with a group of people from the Talk Photography forum. Having only taken four identical photos during the day due to the weather I spent a few minutes in Photoshop Elements trying to rescue one of Pecca Falls.

I’ve had a chance to look through my 1100 photos from Skomer, Gigrin and Mere Sands Wood. This is one that has stood out after a bit more processing. The sun had dropped behind the hills, illuminating only the birds in flight. I tried to get the wings backlit as the Puffin landed and the illuminated feet are a bonus.

Travelling home today I called in at Mere Sands Wood just to stretch my legs. Five minutes after arriving in the hide the Kingfisher turned up on a branch in front of us and I managed a few shots, my first of this beautiful bird and something I’d hoped to achieve this year.

After leaving Skomer I drove up to Gigrin Farm with Dave Benson to shoot the Red Kites. It was a truly awe-inspiring sight having hundreds of Kites filling the sky. The challenge was isolating one bird and trying to keep up.

Another year and another weekend on Skomer with the Talk Photography guys. Once again it was very enjoyable and the wildlife didn’t disappoint.
