East Lancs Railway held a 1940’s Wartime Weekend at Ramsbottom and other stations along the line. There was an excellent turnout of people in period dress although the crowds made taking photographs a little tricky.
I’ve been looking forward to photographing at Blackpool Dance Festival but today turned into a bit of a disaster. I arrived just as a two hour break in proceedings started, the venue was extremely hot under the spotlights and I was too tired to concentrate, then the official photographer started giving me a hard time. I just couldn’t be bothered and gave up…I need a good nights sleep I think.

This morning I visited the Butterfly House in Williamson Park, Lancaster with a group from the Talk Photography forum. Spending the morning in a greenhouse on one of the hottest days of the year so far could well have been a mistake, but it wasn’t too bad. There were plenty of butterflies to shoot but not many of them posed in accessible positions.

I crossed the Pennines for a shoot at the Serenity Studios in Bramley, Leeds with a few guys from the Talk Photography forum.

Another first for me, this time photographing British Superbikes at Oulton Park during the first practice session. It was a fairly steep learning curve and I have a good idea of the shots I want next time.
