    I’m A Photographer Not A Terrorist

    23 January 2010 // Comments Off

I attended the Mass Photo Gathering in Trafalgar Square, London organised by I’m A Photographer Not A Terrorist to draw attention to restrictions being placed on photographers under section 44 of the Terrorism Act.

On the way I stopped off at various underground stations to take some photos. I’d like to spend a day just photographing the underground, maybe something to arrange later in the year.

    Kestrel

    15 January 2010 // Comments Off

I had seen this Kestrel a few times sat on top of telegraph poles. I returned when the light was good and waited and it didn’t take long before the bird turned up. I drove past it slightly, so the light would be behind me and illuminating the bird, carefully got out of the Land Rover. As soon as the bird saw me it took flight but I managed to get a short sequence of shots, this being the second one. This was the first day out with the new 7D, the autofocus is superb.

    Canon EOS 7D

I’ve just received my new Canon EOS 7D. Straight from the box it wasn’t that impressive but after a day changing the settings and customisations, I have to say I’m very pleased. The main reason for the upgrade was the better autofocus and this is very good, far better than the 40D.

    Wreck and Meadow Pipit

I’d seen photographs of the wrecks on the River Wyre and wanted to try my new 10-22mm lens

This was just a quick grab shot to help identify the bird, I quite like the colours though. Taken on the bridge at Fleetwood Marsh Nature Reserve.

    Fleetwood Marsh Nature Reserve

    6 January 2010 // Comments Off

This was my first visit to Fleetwood Marsh Nature Reserve and they’ve done a really good job. Unfortunately, irresponsible dog owners are letting their dogs run riot and foul all over the place, something really needs to be done. There’s plenty of waders and wildfowl down on the River Wyre, including this Curlew and Black-tailed Godwit.

    Fleetwood Beach

    2 January 2010 // Comments Off

There was an icy wind blowing on Fleetwood Beach but I stayed for an hour to catch this Oystercatcher and Turnstone flying out to feed as the tide went out.
